Have you ever wished that someday you will be a neither diamond nor mega star? Well, as I have observed, children nowadays idolized professional actors and actresses whose names were carved in show businesses or either Hollywood. Well, we can’t ask them why because these artists could really act to the highest and extreme point of their emotions. They can act on one, two, three or more expressions on different roles such as mawkish, droll, solemn, sweet, livid and other emotions that can touch our passion to the deepest part of our heart. When we do so, we have to possess our sense of humor to portray better enactment. However, the road to dazzling brilliant star or stardom does not mean that we should engage or be professional of acting on stage or even on screen but in our own little way, we can be one of them. Children who idolized celebrities and wanted to be listed in the “hall of fame” pushed me to create a short poem entitled, “How to be a Shining Star?”
All of us can be a shining star
It is not the way you act as a diamond star
He must have good manners
Like giving respect to elders
He might have an extraordinary talent
Or in life he finds contentment
People not only admire him physically
But most of all, he must love himself and others truly
Does it sound fascinating? Well, it is really factual that we can be a shining star to others by simply respecting them and people sincerely. As we go further, idolatry is also a one way of showing interest, awareness and importance of a certain thing that could be able to inspire, encourage and enthuse people especially the youths ones. They should venerate and revere the good and better model and not the horrific, dreadful and appalling ones. As I did, I admire and idolize my hilarious, witty, humorous and silly father (just like me! ! ! yah0o0o0h! !) and also, my one of a kind best pal and buddy (guess who?). Their names were certainly engraved in my affable heart who were Wendell C. Nacua (my big brother! and of course, my father) and Rhonpete A. Belgida (my best companion and friend. . . char. . .). They can’t certainly act as good as the local artists and Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, Angelina Jolie, actors of James Bond etc. but they possess traits and qualities that made the best shot in my heart and spirit. I am a constant fanatic of Rhonpete (studying at University of the Philippines, High School Department) who possesses a great vigor, shrewdness and ability when we talk about his stuff, “sports”. He is also a good brother of mine who is always ready to clash and brawl against my ghastly and atrocious rivals. My father that is where I inherited my silly and humorous personality is my great hero. He is always there whenever I am in the midst of anonymity and murkiness. He enlightens my mind and spirit to fight the barrier and obstacles that can hinder my happiness. He is really the greatest dad in the whole world.
These two people played a vital role in my life. They taught me the right road and path to where I really belong. They also made me realized that I am one of their shining stars. So, what are you waiting for? Find the persons that can be the best shot in your heart.

Fashion Casualty....
Are you in or out? These words often go out from the mouth of the so-called ”fashionistas”. Fashion is defined as current popular custom or style; manner of doing something. For the sake of fashion, people tend to rush to their favorite stores and buy what is the latest. They hurriedly acquire these things regardless of the expensive price paid. Others sacrifice their food budget in order to be fashionable. Some are suffering from big debts just to look good and to be appreciated by others. No wonder clothing, bags and shoes stores are popping like mushrooms because Filipinos tend to imitate what they saw on the runways, magazines and televisions.
One can never go wrong when dress appropriately. Remember the fur trend abroad? Local celebrities wore that kind of clothing just to be fashionable. What a shame! They should at least be observant to the tourists visiting our country. Surely, they can never see these people wearing clothes suitable for a very cold temperature.
For me, it is comfort over fashion. It is a reality that not all of us can wear anything. We should study our body first. Know what the assets are and hide the flaws if instead of flaunting them. Do not blame the people laughing at you when they found you humorous.
One thing that I learned is to buy things that will not go out of style. Go with the basics. Invest on shoes because the feet are the most exploited part of the body. It is wiser to buy quality shoes because it will go a long way. Accessories are a big must that have to update the looks without spending much. With creativity and imagination it can create several different looks. Mix and match is one of the tricks fashionable people practices. A single blouse can be paired with skirt, pants and shorts. Simple silhouettes are reusable for the future fashion. Plains are more flexible than the printed ones. It is much easier to pair them with any other clothing.
Colors are essential in order to look good. Know what the shade of your skin. Everybody can wear white regardless of one’s color. It will make you feel fresh because it will absorb less the hot temperature as compare to the dark colors especially black. Black colors are good during nighttime. Everybody should have this color in their closets. Of course infants and young children are exempted. Earth colors like brown, beige, shades of green; shades of gray will never goes out of style.
It is not bad to be a fashionable individual. As long as one is capable financially. But most of us have only enough money for our most basic needs. Let us not be victimized by this trend. We should spend our money wisely because they are hardly earned. After all, fashion is just temporary, it always changes. The important thing is we carry our clothes well with confidence. Fashion is useless if one does not feel good with his self.
Let us always be open and listen to our parents when it comes to looking good. They always know what is best for us.

It is my honor to say that I belong to a great family. I have a astonishing, sympathetic, meticulous, passionate, considerate, tolerant and numerous excellent distinctiveness that my parents possessed.
They treated me as their buddy and pal. My opinions are greatly considered in making their decisions. All the three of us eavesdrop to one another. The communications are always open too. My cousins and acquaintances often envy me with the kind of relationship I have with my family.
To show my gratitude on their sacrifices, I study hard in order to prepare for our future. They instill in me the importance of education and edification. Now, it is clearer to me that good quality education is a key to a better future. I also share these wisdom of my parents to my cousins and neighbors who are not as propitious as I am. They often confided to me that their parents are not supportive with their studies. They are force to work and do the household chores instead of studying their lessons. How I wish that this kind of parenting will be gone forever.
My parents always encourage me to read informative materials about anything. Now I am learning new staffs through this good hobby. They also suggested to me years ago to engage in sports. They supported my badminton craziness and the newfound love soccer sports. They are happy to see me having a balanced personality.
I observed that other students are prohibited from watching television. In my case, my parents will allow me to view my favorite programs as long as I am finished with my assignments and other stuffs in school. My parents always bring me anywhere they go but sometimes, I have to sacrifice due to the assignments and projects to be passed on the next day. I fully understood the life of a true student and my parents show their full support.
I am also exposed to different kinds of music. My parents are music lovers and so I do. They also appreciate the trend of music nowadays. They told to respect the music of yesterday and surprisingly, I appreciate the brilliance and talents of the artists. Sometimes we dance while listening to the good music and create new and funny steps out of it. That is also one of our way of bonding together as family and friend.

At home, the parents do not have to spend more money on expensive foods. There are many fresh and nutritious foods available in the market anytime. It is wiser to plan for a menu ahead so that unhealthy and instant foods will not be purchased.
Recently, a reputable television station aired a documentary about a certain canned good product. This brand of luncheon meat is very saleable to the consumers. A concerned employee of an illegal distributor confessed that his employer is importing the popular luncheon meat. Immediately, the television crew conducted surveillance and later reported the illegal activity to the police. The warehouse was then raid and several boxes of these canned goods were confiscated. The content of these products was then brought and examined by the chemist of Bureau of Foods and Drugs (BFAD). The result was not clear and the alleged meat of the rats and cats that were supposed to be included in the product was not proven.
This is just a lesson on how unsure we are in consuming this ready to eat or instant foods. So children, think about what is inside your favorite unhealthy foods before taking your first bite.

A Key to Rising Philippines...
One factor that hinders the development of our beloved Philippines is the lack of patriotism.
Would you believe that by simply following the most basic laws would have a great impact in improving our situation?
Here are some instances that will make a big difference. Obeying the traffic signs. When pedestrians and drivers of the vehicles ignore the appropriate signs, it may lead to vehicular accidents that may cause damage to both life and properties. It will also delay the delivery of goods and services that are essential for the business sectors, which will affect our economy. Our government has to hire or maintain a large number of traffic enforcers to make sure that the flow of the traffics are smooth and orderly, therefore, additional expenses for the salary of these personnel are needed. These are concrete enough to prove that by abiding the said law our government can save time and money for the development of our economy.
Patronizing Philippine made products can help boost our economy too. It will also decrease the unemployment rate of our fellow countrymen because when these companies succeed, hiring of additional Filipino employees are needed. Our government can generate more taxes paid by the companies and employees in return.
Lawmakers, politicians and government employees should stop corruption since it will hurt our poor economy more. They should focus on service for the government instead of fulfilling their hidden agenda or self- interests. Militaries should protect the constitution. They should not protect people of the government but instead follow what is mandated by the constitution. Obviously, the peace and order in our country is poor because some militaries favored corrupt politicians in exchange for money, promotions and other things for their own good. Other militaries fight with each other due to conflicting self- interests that can not be resolved. If only their loyalties are for the good of the government, they can regain the trust of the Filipinos who in long time lost it.
All Filipinos, young or old, educated or illiterate., rich or poor, are encourage to practice patriotism or loving one’s country. It should start within us before convincing others to follow. By doing this now, our country will surely develop. By setting a good example for the young ones, there is no doubt that the future generation will benefit from the progressive Philippines. Members of the family do not need to go abroad to earn more money. Bad effects caused by these sacrifices made by our fellow countrymen will not be experienced again. Stronger and happier ties among the Filipino families will be there instead of destroying them.
Most of all, we should be God- fearing citizens. All religions have its commandments to be followed. By abiding them, honest individuals will emerge. Regardless of whatever religion one practices, there should be respect in order to avoid conflict.
Let us all remember that the rise and fall of a nation will greatly depend on its citizens. There are only two choices to be made. If we select the rising Philippines, then, there should be unity, cooperation, peace and trust. On the other hand, embrace hopelessness for the falling Philippines.

It will also decrease the unemployment rate of our fellow countrymen because when these companies succeed, hiring of additional Filipino employees are needed. Our government can generate more taxes paid by the companies and employees in return.
Lawmakers, politicians and government employees should stop corruption since it will hurt our poor economy more. They should focus on service for the government instead of fulfilling their hidden agenda or self- interests. Militaries should protect the constitution. They should not protect people of the government but instead follow what is mandated by the constitution. Obviously, the peace and order in our country is poor because some militaries favored corrupt politicians in exchange for money, promotions and other things for their own good. Other militaries fight with each other due to conflicting self- interests that can not be resolved. If only their loyalties are for the good of the government, they can regain the trust of the Filipinos who in long time lost it.
All Filipinos, young or old, educated or illiterate., rich or poor, are encourage to practice patriotism or loving one’s country. It should start within us before convincing others to follow. By doing this now, our country will surely develop. By setting a good example for the young ones, there is no doubt that the future generation will benefit from the progressive Philippines. Members of the family do not need to go abroad to earn more money. Bad effects caused by these sacrifices made by our fellow countrymen will not be experienced again. Stronger and happier ties among the Filipino families will be there instead of destroying them.
Most of all, we should be God- fearing citizens. All religions have its commandments to be followed. By abiding them, honest individuals will emerge. Regardless of whatever religion one practices, there should be respect in order to avoid conflict.
Let us all remember that the rise and fall of a nation will greatly depend on its citizens. There are only two choices to be made. If we select the rising Philippines, then, there should be unity, cooperation, peace and trust. On the other hand, embrace hopelessness for the falling Philippines.
